Asus unveiled the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom mid-range smartphone at CES 2017 –a successor to the Asus ZenFone Zoom. The newest smartphone is being promoted as “build for photography” because of its high-end dual camera setup that offers exceptional sharpness and captures outstanding pictures.
Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom Features
The smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD AMOLED display with the resolution of 1080 × 1920 pixels and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover on top of the display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC and disappointingly runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. But, Asus will be upgrading the ZenFone 3 Zoom to Android Nougat in the future.
Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom features a dual rear camera setup, with one 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX362 sensor, and f/1.7 aperture, and the other 12 megapixel rear camera featuring a 2.3× optical zoom –allowing for a total 12×zoom. Asus said that the pair of lenses can work in concert to provide that depth-of-field bokeh effect that blurs the background while keeping the subject of your photos sharply in focus. The camera also features a Dual Phase detection Auto Focus, support for RAW image capture, and 4K video recording.
Another impressive feature is battery capacity, the phone packs a beastly 5,000mAh battery. Asus claims the battery is good for 6.4 hours of 4K video recording. Despite this beastly battery, the phone only weighs 170 grams and the clock is under 8mm thick.
