Xiaomi has launched two new smartphones – Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A, successors to company’s popular Redmi 3 smartphone series. Xiaomi has launched the devices in the ‘affordable’ mid-range market, where devices like the Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3S Prime have previously done well. Now Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 devices will be 4G VoLTE capable. The company has launched three new variants of the smartphone: Redmi 4 Pro Edition, Redmi 4 standard edition, and Redmi 4A.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A:

We’ll start with the lower end of the three. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A sports an all metal body, a 5-inch IPS 720p screen, the Snapdragon 425 SoC with 2GB of RAM, 16GB expandable storage, and Adreno 308 GPU. There is no fingerprint sensor on this little guy, but it does have 13MP main camera and 5MP front cameras. All of this is powered by a battery 3,120 mAh. MIUI 8 (based on Marshmallow) comes out of the box. Pricing is CNY 499 ($74 USD) for either gold or rose gold colors and it will go on sale on November 11.

Xiaomi Redmi Standard Edition:

The middle of the bunch is the Redmi 4 Standard Edition. It has the same 5-inch IPS 720p display as the 4A, but it comes out with 2.5D glass. It gets a slight bump in power with Snapdragon 430 SoC and Adreno 505 GPU, but with the same 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The main camera is 13MP along with phase-detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. The 5MP front-facing camera is also the same as the Redmi 4A. The battery has grown to 4,100 mAh. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, too. The Standard Edition is available in gold, rose gold, and dark gray for CNY 699 ($104 USD). Pre-orders are live now and the phone is available for sale starting November 7.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro Edition:

Finally, the Redmi 4 Pro Edition sports the same body as the Redmi 4 Standard, but it does gets a nice boost in specs. With a 5-inch 1080p display, the Snapdragon 625 SoC with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Adreno 506 GPU, it is definitely a surprising upgrade from the Standard. This has the same camera, too, but with the dual-tone dual-LED flash. Other than that, it’s the same as the Standard: rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4,100 mAh battery, 5MP front camera, and MIUI 8. It comes out in the same colors and also available to pre-order or purchase on November 7 for CNY 899 ($133 USD).
