HP revealed its new OMEN products for game enthusiast, a new lineup of laptops. They are identical black notebooks with ‘dragon red’ highlights, according to HP , Around each key and on the lid. HP’s logo only shows up on the inside; instead, the rear of the laptops display a strange red diamond that looks vaguely gamery or tribal.
The new Omen laptops come in 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch display sizes and up to a quad-core, 2.6GHz Intel “Skylake” Core i7-6700HQ processor. Both laptops come with either 1080p or 3840-by-2160 resolutions display, up to 16 gigabyte of RAM, and a variety of storage opt that max out at a dual-storage 4 terabytes worth of hard drive space and a 128 gigabyte hybrid drive. If you really want to go all out, you can upgrade to an Intel RealSense cameras for various purposes, including gesture control on compatible games.
They both feature a red-backlit keyboard, OMEN branding on the keyboard deck, and OMEN badge on the lid. The black shadow mesh material featured on the laptops remind us of carbon fiber, but HP has assured us, it is not.
The graphics are where these Omen devices get into “reasonable gaming performance” territory. Both laptops comes out with up to Nvidia’s GTX 965M—a respectable little GPU, but one firmly in the entry-level gaming category.
With Bang and Olufsen-powered dual speakers and with the enhanced opt for 4K displays and Intel’s RealSense 3D camera, gesture controls, and Windows Hello authentication.
Pricing starts at $899.99 for the smaller model and $979.99 for the larger model. Both will be available starting July 10th.
