Seagate Is Launching A New 512GB SDD Drive For Xbox

Seagate has recently announced its new Game Drive for Xbox SSD. While the name suggests it’s primarily for the original Xbox, this drive is just focused for the Xbox One (regular and S) and Xbox 360, enabling users to store more titles using NAND flash memory. Due to higher performance of SSDs compared to HDDs used in an Xbox One, the Game Drive for the Xbox SSD is being promoted as allowing faster boot and game loading times.

Big hard drives and extra storage are a must for the most hardcore players, as the average game takes up about 35 gigabytes of data. At that size, it does not take long to fill up a hard drive. This Seagate Game Drive for the Xbox SSD uses flash storage to improve the gaming experience. Helping people get into action quicker, and the Seagate Game Drive reduces waiting at welcome screens and enables quicker transitions between levels in top titles like Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3.

The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox SSD supplements the existing Xbox One data storage solutions, enabling gamers to store up to 15 retail games and related downloadable content across its 512-gigabyte of flash memory. This device features a slim form factor and connects to Xbox One units via an included USB cable,and without the need for an external power supply.

As for pricing, Seagate intends to charge $200 for its Game Drive for the Xbox SSD, which is $20 to $30 higher compared to other external SSDs compatible along with Microsoft’s latest console. GameStop, Amazon and other consumer electronics retailers plan to start selling this device in November.

In addition to the Game Drive for the Xbox SSD, Seagate also offers 2TB and 4TB mechanical hard drives for Microsoft’s Xbox One and 1 TB SSHD drive for Sony’s PlayStation 4.
